Welcome to Grounded Living Therapy!

My name is Kim and I’m so glad that you found this practice.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC LC14859) in Maryland I work with adults, virtually, one-on-one. I am also licensed in the state of California.

In my twenties I had a career in media production and project management. At one point during a very typical meeting. I had a thought: “Is this what I want to be doing for the rest of my life? Is this what I want to be contributing to the world?” From there a lot of time was spent reflecting on who I was and researching how I could serve my community. It started to come together when I watched my grandfather, someone we called “Pop Pop.” He continually checked in on others to see how they were, he listened, and he was thoughtful with his actions. He continued to do this even while his wife, my Granny, was in the process of passing away. I wanted to be more like him. He was my hero. About 5 years later I was in graduate school, at Pepperdine University, studying to become a licensed therapist.

Since going back to school I have gained over four years of experience in outpatient, group practice, and hospice settings while treating adults who suffered from depression, anxiety, grief, and mild trauma-related issues. I have been trained in the use of EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT,) Solutions Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques.

While in sessions with me you will find that I am calm, caring, solutions focused, and someone who wants to see you succeed. You’ll likely notice that I enjoy adding humor to conversations whenever I can, too… a lot like my Pop Pop would have. We’ll talk about your goals and the things that bring you joy. We’ll draw on your strengths. We’ll work together so that you have an opportunity to become the most compassionate and authentic version of yourself.

I’m already looking forward to hearing from you.
