Grief and Bereavement Counseling
Overview
When something we once had — a parent, a spouse, a child, a job, a relationship, a dream of what our future would have looked like — is lost, we can experience an intense set of responses that are packed into one small word; grief. There is no one way to feel or move through this very natural part of life. There are ways that we can tend to grief in a healthy way.
With grief focused therapy I can help you process the loss, adjust to it, and find a way to meaningfully integrate the loss into your life. There is hope and you’re not alone.
If you…
have intense feelings of sadness or longing
are at times irritable, angry, or feeling guilty
are having a hard time getting back to your routine after the loss
feel fatigued
do not know how to process the grief in a helpful way
It’s possible that...
your symptoms are causing you to feel exhausted, lonely, numb, or easily triggered by things that remind you of the loss. These feelings may be keeping you from enjoying your life.
I can help you…
process your grief in a safe space without judgement. You can share as much, or as little, of your story of the loss as you would like. Death and loss is not a taboo topic with me. Your feelings won’t be dismissed with platitudes.
For almost a year I spent time learning about grief through my time as a volunteer bereavement counselor at a hospice home. Here I was able to get to know patients who were nearing the end of their lives and the family members who were processing and grieving this loss in real time.
I can guide you through the grieving process in a way that helps you feel seen and not alone. I can help you move through this difficult time so that you can start enjoying your life again.
